Ownership
On March 17, 1927, Fischer's opened their doors for business for the first time. In October, 1975 the original owners Joe and John Fisher offered their share of the business to John’s sons, John C. and Francis R. (Butch) Fisher. John and Butch accepted the offer and took over the family business.
The new partners remodeled the store and, proud of their German heritage, gave both the exterior and interior of the store a Bavarian look. Johnny and Butch also returned to the original spelling of Fischer’s for their business.
In June of 1976, founder John Fisher died. Joe Fisher
continued to visit the store daily until his death on Dec.9, 1988.
On October 1, 2005, John sold his interest in Fischer's to Steven Fisher (Butch's son) and Stanley Hess (Butch's son-in-law). Together they run the family business. Steven is overseeing the entire meat department and Stanley is overseeing the grocery end of the store.
